Costume Design

I studied costume design at UC Berkeley, and landed a job right after graduation at the Napa Valley Theater Company, a division of La MaMa E.T.C.  from New York, designing with the now iconic artist, Betye Saar.  It was an amazing time to be in Napa Valley and exciting to be around quality summer stock theater.

I then fell in with Bill Wolf, and his San Francisco-based AAA (Association for the Advancement of the Arts), doing everything from wild street theater and living tableaux to Gorky’s Lower Depths, to Aimee Semple McPherson’s Pageant of Salvation.

When I moved back to Los Angeles, I continued to work in both fashion and costume design. I designed costumes for a  feature film, and many TV shows, as well as the very first reality show, Ed McMahon’s Star Search

An early highlight was working with John Cassavettes and Gena Rowlands in a small, equity waver theater on Santa Monica Blvd.  Three Plays of Love and Hate, with John Voight, Peter Falk, and Robert De Niro.

My most recent costume designs have been for original operas by Peter Wing Healey at Mesopotamian Opera.
