Educator

Working as a fashion educator has been a part of my life for decades, and continues to be enjoyable. My 22 years in Senior Collections at Otis College of Art and Design was an invaluable experience.  A very top-notch school, we worked hard and had a lot of support in developing absolutely the best methods for moving students forward in our field.

Projects and collaborations with prominent designers were integral to the courses. We learned about their design philosophies, we learned about avant-garde draping from Isabel Toledo, beautiful fabrics from Badgley Mischka, laces from Monique Llulhier, beading and embellishment techniques from Bob Mackie.

Steve McSween of Sean John (Sean Combs) taught us how to give leather jackets attitude, Natalie Chanin taught us about dying and hand stitching.  Dominique Lemieux of Cirque du Soleil led us to create costumes that were some of the most beautiful clothes I have ever seen.

I then taught in the Fashion Department at Woodbury University for a few years where we did collaborations with the Burbank Philharmonic, creating stage costumes for the performers that were truly spectacular.

Currently, I am working with the Costume department at Los Angeles City College.
